Autumn/Winter 2010 Menswear

The menswear collection draws inspiration from the personality of ‘The Archivist.’ Exploring the concept of a ‘collection’ in all its guises, the range blends well-loved pieces with future classics to create a textural and colourful anthology reminiscent of a passionately compiled archive. These are timeless pieces to collect and to treasure.

The Autumn/Winter collection concentrates on seasonal colours such as rich Nocturne blue, Majesty – deep purple, dark sea green Mallard and Caramel combined with key neutrals. A heritage palette of classic tones Charcoal, Black, Navy, Silver, and White runs alongside new additions like Rosebud and Feather Grey. Stripe formulas, trim detail and block pattern allow for dramatic combinations of rich hues.

Classic designs have been carried-over to ensure the best selection of necklines and fits, while new silhouettes and trends compliment the well-loved heritage pieces. Edison and Randal are key with tipped trim detail, and can be combined with co-ordinating accessories like Lyall hat with tipped rib, and the plain coloured Leonard scarf with contrasting rib ends.

Other key new pieces include Frederick cardigan, to be worn like a lightweight jacket, with elongated silhouette and slanted pockets. Draped loosely over Melvin woven cotton shirt, it works as stylish office attire or casual library-chic. New jacket style Harding, in a luxurious merino/cashmere blend, creates effortless, understated style.

AUTUMN / WINTER 2010 WOMENSWEAR

This season’s knitwear is all about the silhouette with shape and outline softened with a drape, a fold or tactile texture. The collection blends a colourful edge with a new elegant and androgynous take on women’s knitwear. The collection is contemporary and confident with optimistic brights and in-depth, rich jewel colours mixed with a palette of warm neutrals.

John Smedley have introduced a fresh twist on the twin set with dinner shirt inspired ruffles as seen on Gracie which comes in classic Black or cool Winter White. Caitlin features contrast coloured tipping and can be worn with the accompanying Effie top or as a stand alone garment. Rosemary and Janie, another twin set option display an interesting reverse colour trim that makes a statement whereas Linette and Magdelene feature delicate lace detailing for a more feminine look.

Sweaters offer a nostalgic elegance with Evaline which features a gentle scooped neckline and puff shoulders, graduating to slim, ribbed sleeves. The well loved roll neck selection has been increased to include three new pieces, Elfreda, a seamless cowl which comes in colours such as Feather Grey, Orchid Ice and Beetle, Renae is a seamless funnel neck and Opal, a figure hugging seasonal coloured style with a contrast vertical drop-stripe emphasising the elegant curve of the back.

Draping and layering is taken a step further with pieces from the new Boutique collection. The exquisite range features Leonora, a soft striped hood scarf in Midnight / Silver and Midnight / Majesty colour ways, Melba a cowl necked merino wool jersey top and Fawn, a jacket that features folded and tucked merino jersey and comes in Navy and five other seasonal essential colours. Genie, a dress to compliment the rest of the collection, features pin tucks falling into gentle folds.
